In late 2025, as my 91-year-old mother was fading, my family began to go thorough old photographs. A set of strips of old photobooth photographs caught my eye. I thought they told a story together about me, my mother, and eventually my sister. I wanted a project that involved multiples and so decided to put together these small books that respected the strips but combined them in order to tell a sort of story. Only while working on them did I begin to realize that the effort was a sort of contemplation of time--the rigorous cycles of the machine along each strip making a sort of document of the incident, and the leaps between strips telling a larger story of developing family. I made one for each of us in the photos, and all our descendants. My mother passed away in September 2026.
